A question from Md: Any idea how to solve this? Apple Watch black screen with red exclamation (!) mark. I followed the instructions provided by Apple but it does not work.
We all know that the Apple Watch can sometimes be problematic, but most issues can be fixed using generic solutions such as quick restart, factory reset, and unpairing.

How to Fix Red Exclamation on Apple Watch Screen
The first thing we’re going to do is force restarting your Apple Watch. This can be done by:
- Press and hold the Digital Crown and side button simultaneously
- Keep holding for 10 seconds
- You will see an Apple logo
If that doesn’t work, it’s time to send your watch to Apple. As recommended by the URL shown with the error on your Apple Watch, you will need to contact the company for further assistant.
I got in touch with the Apple Support team, sent in my watch, and replaced it with a new one. It may work differently for you depending on where your Apple Watch was originally purchased. So far, I found that most people could get a replacement if their watch shows a red exclamation mark.
Will Apple Replace My Watch if It Has Red Exclamation Mark?
It’s basically done for, needs to be set up for mail in or store. The red exclamation mark is basically equivalent to Windows blue screen of death
Something happened to your watch while it was updated, and can mean that certain operating system files are damaged. If attempting to hard reset doesn’t work, you’ll need to schedule service with Apple or an AASP. Most likely they’ll order a unit replacement, and, depending on how old it is, if you have AppleCare coverage, and if there’s any damage, then you’ll be covered.
I had the same issue…just complaint in apple support and they will replace it for free of cost.
