3 Jailbreak Tweaks to Record Phone Calls on iPhone (Non-Jailbroken Included)

Don’t worry I’m not judging you. Every once in awhile, I have to record my phone calls as well. Sometimes, I get a lot of bad customer support. And it’s important for me to let that company know how their team is doing. If recording phone calls from an iPhone is something you want to do, see the list below.

Due to privacy concerns, please use these apps at your own risk. This is another important reason why we still haven’t seen a built-in Call recorder feature on our iPhone yet.

1. iOS Call Recorder

This tweak is a native call and VoIP recorder for jailbroken iPhone that is available on Cydia for $2.99. Don’t be disappointed just because you see a paid package, wait until I tell you what it has to offer.

Using iOS Call Recorder tweak, you can quickly record all calls including blocked numbers and unknown numbers.

Additionally, you can even record calls taken on your Bluetooth headphone or when connected to a car. Further, users will have the option to save those phone calls via Google Drive or export them to different media outlets (WhatsApp, SMS, and Email).

Security features are also included into this tweak with support for Touch ID and Passcode, making it impossible for others to have access to these iPhone calls without your permission. Once a user records their call on the iPhone, they can easily listen to it inside a standalone app using an internal player.

How to Install iOS Call Recoder

  1. Open Cydia app and tap on Sources
  2. Since this tweak is not hosted on one of the default repositories, you’re required to add another source. Tap on Edit > Add
  3. Enter the following URL: http://hacx.org/repo then tap on Add Source
  4. Now switch to the Search tab and look for iOS Call Recorder
  5. Choose Install > Confirm > Respring

You will not get charged during the process of installing this tweak from Cydia. Upon opening the app, it will take you to a activate screen, where you can buy an activation code.

From now on, whenever you’re making or getting a phone call, there is always a Record feature with Start and Stop functions.

Note: iOS Call Recorder works with jailbroken devices running iOS 7 – 9.1.

As of Feb. 3, 2017, this tweak will work with iOS 10.2.

2. AudioRecorder 2

Moving on to another paid tweak called AudioRecorder 2 which provides some decent iPhone calls recording features for your iOS device. Unlike iOS Call Recorder that we’ve just reviewed above, this tweak allows iPhone users to record even more than just their phone call.

It has support for FaceTime, Viber, Skype, Tango, LINE, and so much more. When the recording is over, you will have the option to save it to Dropbox or Google Drive and this feature can be set to automatic.

AudioRecorder 2 will record directly any sound coming out of your device (what you hear). Thus, it doesn’t use any remote server. As a result, you can always record your iPhone calls without the internet.

Worry about privacy and legal issues? Don’t worry, before you can use this tweak, there will be a popup telling you everything about it. Furthermore, this tweak will automatically notify the other person that the call is being recorded.

This tweak is now on sale for $3.99 from Limneos.

How to install AudioRecorder 2

  1. Open the Cydia app and add this source: http://limneos.net/repo/
  2. Again, using the Search option, type in AudioRecorder 2
  3. Purcahse > Install > Confirm

There is also a standalone app after you install this tweak, it will contain all your phone calls recording as well as Settings in which you can freely configure.

3. CallRecorder

CallRecorder is a freemium Cydia tweak, which means you will be able to download and install it for free but features will be limited.

…in the trial mode it will record only the first 10 seconds of every call.

However, if you just want a basic tool to record your phone conversation and then save it as MP3 file then this tweak is the best one in term of pricing.

Once you install CallRecorder from the ModMyi repo, there is no option to configure so you can start recording right away. After the conversation is over, you can share or export each call to different apps and outlets.

How to Record a Call on iPhone without Jailbreak

We know how it feels like when you came across this post when your iOS device isn’t jailbroken yet. According to a recent survey, more than 50% of participants from the /r/Jailbreak community doesn’t have Cydia installed on their device. So apparently the list of apps to record phone call above wouldn’t work for most of us.

Don’t worry, though; we still got you covered. If your iPhone is not yet jailbroken, there is a method to record phone calls on your iOS device, no Jailbreak or apps is required. Unlike most solutions you’ve found so far, which I guessed doesn’t work. What you about to learn is a bit more technical.

Getting started

  1. Dial the number you want to call. Once the call has started, tap on Add Call
  2. Next, call the phone number that you’re using. This will redirect you straight to the Voicemail
  3. Wait until the greeting message and Visual Voicemail are over, tap on the Merge Calls button

By doing so, it will merge the original call and your own number to voicemail. As a result, recording the phone call directly into your voicemail

When the conversation is over, stay in the Phone app and switch over to the Voicemail tab. The recorded voicemail should now appear on the list. Choose the Share option next to the circular “i” icon and select your prefer method of sharing. Your voicemail can be shared via iMessage, AirDrop, send it to notes, or attach them in an email.

Keep in mind that the recording is saved as M4A files which mean you will have to import it into a computer and convert them into the MP3 file format.

See, isn’t this easy? It requires a bit of time, doesn’t cost you a single penny, and it works on non-jailbroken iPhone. This trick was originally published on iDownloadblog by Christian Zibreg.

Warning

I want you to keep in mind that recording a conversation without the other person knowing can get you in trouble. Be sure to consult with someone before doing so.

  1. Have Verizon prepaid iPhone 5s–would like to keep it that way. Want to record incoming/outgoing calls w/o merging–just seamless “doing.” Possible? Will jailbreak shut me out of Verizon? What do I do next?

    • It seems like jailbreaking is your best option if you want to record your phone calls. If there is any problem with the phone that requires you to bring it into Verizon, just restore the device. That will eventually uninstall the jailbreak for you.

  2. Have you ever tried iPhone Screen Recorder? I always use it to capture gameplay and video call on my iPhone plus, works pretty well. This app uses AirPlay and has a built in recorder that captures picture and sound.
