Those with iPhone running iOS 9.3.x or even iOS 10 betas can now enjoy Zestia, a new Cydia alternative that provides popular side-loaded apps for free.
But wait, don’t get too excited, there are a few things I want to let you know before you grab your iOS device and install this third-party store. First thing first, just like any other Cydia alternatives, you will be required to trust the apps you downloaded via the Settings app.
That’s not a big problem at all. Here is the thing, though. You may not be able to download any of their tweaks at this moment. Zestia requires new users to register their UDID before installing any of the tweaks. The current wait time for UDID registration is 3 days 12 hrs and 19 mins (as of writing this post).
I totally understand why the developer does this. According to one of his tweet, Zestia is going under some improvements. As a result, he wants to let new users wait until the better version gets released. Again, that’s not a problem at all.
Here is what annoys me the most. The constant redirect ads that he implemented inside Zestia. Let me tell you before I can get to the “actual” install button; there is an immediate redirect to the advertiser’s App Store page.
Sometimes, I don’t even have to do anything and still get redirect ads and popups. I understand that he needs ad revenue to keep the project alive. But there are so many other ways to do that than constantly showing popups and annoying redirect.
If after all this and you still want to give Zestia a try, read below.
How to Install Zestia on your iPhone
Step 1: On your iOS device, launch Safari and go to http://zestia.lmdinteractive.com/
Step 2: Tap the blue button that says, “Install Zestia.”
Step 3: Choose Install from the Profile page and enter your passcode (if you have this feature enabled)
Step 4: Tap Done. Go back to your home screen and look for the Zestia app
That’s all if you want to download and install this application. However, as we mentioned above, you can’t get any tweaks yet since there is a waitlist for UDID registration. Some apps such as Bobby Movie doesn’t require that but after you installed it, go to Settings > General > Profiles & Device Management > Trust.
I’m really looking forward to seeing a more completed version of Zestia with lesser ads and more tweaks that don’t require any type of registration.
Update #1: Starting from v. 4.30.6, no more redirections.
