Entering a wrong passcode multiple times on an iPhone isn’t a fun way to mess around anymore. It’s rather more of a serious issue now.
If you’re a victim, your iPhone could be disabled for more than 25 years or even longer.
Don’t believe me? Take a look…
This was reportedly caused by multiple aims at disabling the iPhone. What happened was a friend tried to enter as many wrong passcodes as he can.
The result? It’s not just several hours of iPhone being disabled. It’s now 25 years of waiting.
Further, there is an option in the stock Settings app called Erase Data. Once enabled, all the data on your iPhone will be removed after 10 failed passcode attempts.
Now is the most important time to reconsider who can mess around with your iPhone lock screen. It’s critical to double check and make sure you don’t enable the Erase Data if not necessary.
The method I’m about to show you will help preventing the “iPhone is disabled” screen from happening. Moreover, it doesn’t require turning off Passcode or Touch ID.
Note that your iPhone doesn’t automatically go into disabled mode after one or two tries. According to payetteforward, here are what it takes.
- 1-5 incorrect passcode attempts: No problem.
- 6 incorrect attempts: iPhone disabled for 1 minute.
- 7 incorrect attempts: iPhone disabled for 5 minutes.
- 8 incorrect attempts: iPhone disabled for 15 minutes.
- 9 incorrect attempts: iPhone disabled for 60 minutes.
- 10 incorrect attempts: “iPhone is disabled. Connect to iTunes”
